Another dropout from the corporate Tech world, Steve Escobar left carrying a sales bag, crisp white shirts, ties and a company car behind to go fish. Pushing his dory boat out through the surf, spending long hours on the water, and then selling the oh-so-fresh catch to the public brought him tranquility. No more “workin’ for the man!”. Steve is “le pecheur”, the fisherman. This is his livelihood and his passion.
A love of catching seafood comes with a love of eating seafood. And exploring all the culinary avenues of cooking, preparing and sharing seafood. Which, naturally, leads also to the inclusion of wine on the table.
When not at sea, this fisherman is tending to his vines. His small “Joaquin’s Vineyard” in the Los Olivos District is named after his grandfather, a patriarch of an extensive Portuguese California community. Like many of these immigrant families, there was always some wine being made by the fathers, grandfathers, uncles and cousins in the basement, garage, shed… and likely that the youngsters had a few “tastes” growing up!
Steve, a modern-day renaissance man, also went to culinary school to hone his skills and appreciation for food and wine. And so it all comes together with the introduction of “Le Pecheur” wines, and the offerings from Santa Barbara Seafood Wines.
“From our Coast to your Table”. Saúde!
