There is something about living close to the sea, and particularly those tropical bits of paradise. The Seagrape tree (Coccoloba uvifera) is a gorgeous plant often found near seaside beaches, and is a visual reminder of our winemaking roots, our love of the islands and the persistent influence of the sea.
Of course, wine is not made from the fruit of the Seagrape tree, but rather those wine grapes (vitus vinifera) that grown so exceptionally in Santa Barbara County’s ocean-influenced vineyards, particularly the Sta. Rita Hills appellation.
